Minus legendary geetar misanthrope Ritchie Blackmore, but still boasting Messrs Lord, Gillan, Paice and Glover in the lineup, the '70s rock dinosaurs will no doubt treat the Jeremy Clarkson massive to such classics as 'Highway Star', 'Fireball' and riffmongous perennial, 'Smoke On The Water', pretty much the national anthem of UK trad rock.

Deep Purple absolutely wonderful musicianship. Must be the best technically - I saw 5 concerts at the Excel and DP were head and shoulders above everyone else. By the way, whoever wrote the above regards Lord, Gillan, Paice, and Glover have it wrong. Jon Lord is no longer with the band and was replaced by a guy called Don Airey. Probably better than Lord or at least just as good. Roger Glover and Ian Paice were absolute rocks, allowing Airey and Steve Morse (on guitar) to show their stunning brilliance. Ian Gillan's voice and charisma shone. Beautiful.
