Following the nifty Manu Chao gig last week and The Congos coming in August, Hootananny's stealth campaign to become a destination music venue continues with Mr Wobble. The erstwhile PiL bassist showcases his theatrical sounding new project, a 22-piece outfit combining dub with the new influence of Chinese melodies and instrumentation, and involving Tibetan singers, dancers from Hangzhou, Sichuan mask changers (an ancient operatic art) and an Anglo-Chinese dub band. Followed by a free set from nine-piece funk-ska dubsters RG, combining brassy orchestral grooves with reggae melodies. Plus DJs.
