Whilst the pedigree of the players is beyond doubt, they've got to try a bit harder with this project based on this evenings perfromance. Jet-lag was put forward by M-1 as a mitigating factor, and indeed the band played as if they were in different time-zones. Clearly under-rehearsed and conceptually lacking direction, only a rousing performance of 'The Bottle' was worthy of the great man, and was also one of the few occasions where Mike Clark remembered he is one of the great funky drummers. Brian Jackson offered a passable lead vocal on many of the songs but shone with some great Mcoy Tyner inspired heavy piano work. Things took a downward turn when the band were reduced to jamming as, presumably, they had run out of material. A solid block of rehersal time and a good nights sleep seems to be needed before taking this show out on the road again.
