Moth Club is a former trade hall that houses a military veterans’ club alongside its hipper clientele. Stubborn, time-weathered regulars mix with an east London crowd of hipsters and young professionals – so far as working men’s clubs go, it’s thoroughly untypical.
Getting its name from the Memorable Order of Tin Hats, an order of ex-military servicemen and women who still regularly meet and drink at the venue under a motto of ‘True Comradeship, Mutual Help and Sound Memory’, the club retains its original feel while also providing a platform for some of the city’s buzziest indie bands.
The venue's backroom, entirely covered in gold glitter, sparkles in spangly glory. Upstairs, a smaller second room doubles as both a cosy events space and a green room for the many live music acts who perform downstairs.
