We’d expect a rather more Zen attitude to a break-up than that title suggests from a bunch of Californians – ‘acknowledge, then move on,’ maybe – but since glowering synth-pop is their thing, harbouring a grudge goes with the territory. Imagine a bouncier Interpol with a penchant for both ‘Violator’-era Depeche Mode and Daft Punk and you have a measure of MU’s indie dancefloor-filling might. ‘Paper Hearts’, however, pays homage to early Teenage Fanclub and The Strokes, so it’s not entirely a paint-by-numbers nu-disco job.
