  • Too often, the memory of your favourite kids’ TV programme doesn’t live up to the experience of watching it again on DVD. But listen to the music alone, as on this collection of tracks from gentle ’70s cartoon ‘Ivor…’, and your brain fills in the gaps perfectly. Sound effects feature, too (engine chuffs, donkey clip-clops), but best of all are narrator Oliver Postgate’s introductions to the tracks. ‘Various –’ he begins, pausing for thought, ‘magic noises’. Cue, the sound of someone tapping a glass. Beautiful.
