Something of a torch-holder for the twisted folk scene, Adem Ilhan led the way with his 2004 debut ‘Homesongs’. This follow-up displays a drift away from that yearning folktronica towards a fuller, band-oriented sound that works well on the wheezing, organ-led title track and darkly funky ‘You And Moon’. Sadly, though, Adem’s attempt to mould his ruminations on space into something suitably epic result only in some rather safe indie rock that nods towards Turin Brakes.
