In their four LPs to date, Washington DC’s heavy psych-rock trio have never failed to bring out the meat-headed Beavis in us, for which we give effusive thanks. Now, however, they’ve eased back on their breeze block-heavy Sabbath riffs and forefront the fuzzy washes of dream-rock. Here they’ve done it to such a degree that much of ‘Old Growth’ suggests Anton Newcombe on the nod. The stoner-folk forays are great, but overall, we’re a little disappointed.
