Album number five from the Akron, Ohio raw blues duo finds ’em working with Danger Mouse, and ‘Strange Times’ is a thrilling testament to their working synergy. The band’s signature thick, furious riffs and singer Dan Auerbach’s whiskey-soaked vocal remain prominent, but accompanied here by expansive, piano-plonked choruses, full of Danger Mouse’s trademark eerie gospel swells.
