Sun-blasted scuzz rockers Dean Spunt and the wonderfully named singing drummer Randy Randall never outstay their welcome: psychedelic surf pop tunes like ‘Sleeper Hold’ and closer ‘Brain Burner’ thrash around your ears for two minutes if that. Then there’s the instrumental, tripped-out layers of ‘Keechie’ and ‘Impossible Bouquet’. You can practically picture a pillow-lipped Johansson walking thoughtfully through the streets of Tokyo.
