  • More whimsical, Euro-Marxist, MOR pub-soul from Paul Heaton and co. Album number 11 covers all the familiar bases: waggish lyrics that seem to sneer at those who buy their records (‘Space’, ‘Manchester’); gritty soap operas sugared with harmonies (‘Meanwhile’); boy/girl duets (‘Rose Of My Cologne’, ‘The Cat Loves The Mouse’); and C&W transplanted to Northern council estates (‘From Now On’, ‘Never Lost A Chicken To A Fox’). File somewhere between supremely irritating and guilty pleasure.

I agree I love this album but I am missing a lot of the cheesy lyrics like in Don't Marry Her. I also agree that beautiful south is for all ages 'cos' I'm 13 n love TBS theyve still got it and I hope they keep it

As a Beautiful South and Housemartins fan since the late 80's, I'm thrilled that the "South" continue to give their audience authentic, genuine albums again and again. With all the typical "Americana" out there, Superbi gives me a reason to stay active in the concert scene. An integration of rock and a tad bit of country, Superbi is for all intensive purposes, genuine Beautiful South!

TBS ability to reflect the society we all live in, with intelligent satiric lyrics and astishingly beautiful melodies are the reason why this group is, in my opinion, probably the best nowadays. This are not the guys who have a hit and disappear. They have been consistent producers of top quality music for many years and hopefully will continue. Thanks TBS for one more.

I am a huge Beautiful South fan, and think that thus new album is great! It different but still the same in a way only the BS can do. It is a must have album for everyone. They are band that will just keep going to produce great stuff like this, unique but right on the spot!

well normally I can't get enough of TBS but well just not sure about this one first track in all honesty was a bit scarey. Getting better as it goes on. Think I will need to listen to this one a few times before i decide for definate if i actually like it or not.

This is a great album! As usual there are wonderful lyrics and the music seems to be a bit more daring than usual. Not in the least bit irritating and I'm not the slightest bit guilty taking pleasure in Mr Heaton....wait that came out wrong...

I got _Superbi_ upon taking the new Pet Shop Boys album back to the music shop and _Superbi_ was the only other new release that interested me. I'm not a big BS fan aside from 1998's Dumb still I really like this latest effort, the songs have just a slight country feel and the vocals are excellent. Highly recommended.

I bought the album as i am a die hard fan of TBS. I bought manchester and thought it was good, but not what i expected. It was better. An album that tries new things, daring lyrics but still catches the Beautiful South's original magic! a must have.
