In which this clubby, globe-trotting violinist (ex of klezmer/breakbeat act Oi Va Voi and the London Symphony Orchestra) signs to a major (Decca) who try to sell her to that elusive ‘crossover market’ (ie ‘Loose Ends’ listeners) with an exotic ragbag of klezmer, tango and chamber music. Her playing can’t be faulted, the arrangements are pleasant and ‘Lazarus’ (with KT Tunstall) is sublime, but there’s a slight air of pointlessness around the whole enterprise.
