Buenos Aires native Juana Molina might be better known as a comedy actress back home but her foray into summery electronica is hardly a vanity project. The way she tickles with cheeky ‘miaows’ and percussive ‘du-du-du-dungs’, spooks with her warped melodies and hypnotises with glitchy, harmonic drones requires rather more artistry than delivering a scripted punchline. An odd, complex and fun fourth album, it should give Victoria Wood something to think about.
