  • If your knowledge of former Faith No More frontman Mike Patton is limited to the infamous shitting-inside-a-hair-dryer incident, you may be surprised to hear of the company he now keeps. For this long-gestated project, he swapped music files with Odd Nosdam, Norah Jones, Dan The Automator, Massive Attack, Kool Keith and Bebel Gilberto, among others. This LP is thus heavy on the beats and textured atmospherics, Patton’s distinctive voice being the vital, cohesive cement.

Wow what a return to form! For all Faith No More fans who became slightly disenchanted by Mike Patton's increasingly avant-guard offerings post-split, this will be hugely popular. Dark and moody yet still funky as hell, the tracks are of a similar ilk to the Faith No More track Evidence, and although joined by a stellar cast of musical collaborators, it's Mike's unmistakeable gravel drawl that holds it all together. A must buy.
