  • Pianist Cowley looks all set to be British jazz’s next poster boy. He made his name playing with Zero 7, Brand New Heavies and Fragile, but a growing frustration with microchip music sent him searching for his inner jazz man. His love of Ahmad Jamal, Dudley Moore and Zappa all shine through on this rollicking post-EST session. If it lacks the post-rock intensity of Sweden’s EST, he does have a popster’s ear for a catchy hook and his trio swings like hell.
