Ben Chasny’s previous work as avant-folkies Six Organs Of Admittance suggests the ghostly influence of John Fahey, while his work with San Francisco’s psychedelic wizards Comets On Fire shows he can rock out too. Here those worlds collide as surging electric guitar and a 23-minute, drone-heavy doomscape (‘River Of Transfiguration’) add life, and darkness to his rattling, raga-like acoustic work. Gloomily compelling.
