Geoff Wilkinson’s knackered jazz-hop project staggers on, the emphasis now on live playing, with the likes of Ed Jones (tenor) and Chris Storr (trumpet) backing rappers Akil Dasan and Gaston (plucked from the Nuyorican Poets Café in Manhattan). The early ’90s feel is so dated that it’s almost cool: three tracks (the bleepy samba ‘Kick This’, the Monk-ish ‘Get Busy’ and the Kanye-ish ‘KISSYOU’) are almost worth the entrance fee alone.

If you have any remote interest in jazzy hip-hop you need this album in your life! Contrary to the somewhat schizophrenic review above, Schizophonic has successfully updated the classic early 90s hip-hop sound into something far more relevant to the 21st century. I just saw them live @ Jazz Café and they kick ass live too! Highly recommended.
