Second wave punk fans craved the intensity of metal but just couldn’t allow themselves to embrace Quiet Riot. Motörhead were the (predictable) exception. Shame, as most of them missed übercool Swiss thrashers Celtic Frost. Their hugely influential sound was best captured on one perfect album, 1985’s ‘To Mega Therion’, before a long devolution from originators of Death Metal to kak. Now they’re back with a death-grunting belter. Finally, they’ve got it right again.
