  • Michigan leftfield hip hopper Dabrye (né Tadd Mullinix) follows a similar downtempo, head-nodding-beats path to DJ Shadow – ie he’s interested in texture and atmospherics. Unlike Shadow, he’s drawn very much to the dark side and is equally focused on the rhyme, which is why his second LP makes a neat bookend to, say, Company Flow’s ‘Little Johnny From The Hospitul’ (sic). Guests Beans, MF Doom and Vast Aire up the rap ante on a record that cuts street with sophisticated to striking effect.
