Blue Note have already plundered the EMI/Columbia archive for Bacharach & David covers; now this compilation digs through the Warner, Verve and Atlantic vaults for jazz and soul versions of Burt and Hal’s finest songs. There are a few key omissions (Stanley Turrentine, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans) but enough corkers (Roy Ayers’ version of ‘Raindrops’, The Meters’ ‘Look Of Love’, two tracks from Young-Holt Unlimited) to make this worth a listen.
