With over 80 albums to his name, distilling Krautrock kingpin Roedelius’s career into a double-CD set was always going to be difficult. Rod’s work with Kluster (with a K), blending freaky jazz and synthesised drone tones, was just as interesting as the more ambient, proto-house stuff he did with Cluster (with a C) and Brian Eno in later years, but the latter is more fully represented. Still, machine-jazz bruisers like ‘Monza’ and pastoral nod-outs like ‘Sowieso’ are fairly representative of his oeuvre.
