Why is this single being released? It’s been all over the radio for months, everyone already owns ‘Stadium Arcadium’, and crucially, it sounds half-finished. The chorus is a string of lyrical shorthand (‘Tell me bay-bee… you’re so love-lee… Will this doo-hoo’) and the tune still has the scaffolding up. It’s the sort of song a pipe fitter-cum-songwriter would produce at the end of ‘Faking It’. It might fool two of the panel, but you expect better from professionals.
