Such is the pressure to find the next big thing – and the fear of being left behind – that this Cardiff quintet have come from nowhere to become darlings of the music press. And while this debut is promising – their swarthy, girl-fronted ballroom pop and Blondie spike will prick the ear – it’s brought down by too many sounds scrapping for attention and ends up a muddy mess. If only they let their songs breathe a little.
