Back in the late ’70s, P&P Records was the home of disco. Not its Tony Montana-style Malibu mansion, or its Manhattan penthouse, but the tenement where it grew up. Founded by legendary producer Patrick Adams, P&P dealt in pared-down no-nonsense dance music rooted in sweaty funk and soul rather than camp and rhinestones. Original P&P releases now cost hundreds of pounds, and not even Cloud One’s ‘Atmosphere Strut’ is worth that kind of wedge, so this compilation of 27 of the label’s finest moments will be a major boon for those who don't want disco to be a guilty pleasure.
