The magnificently spooky single ‘Me & U’ not only topped the US charts but also led to denials from Cassie that it was about oral sex. Whatever, nothing here is quite as good as it, although the Aaliyah-ish minimalism of ‘Long Way 2 Go’ comes close, and ‘Ditto’ has a pleasing synth-pop clumsiness which recalls mid-period Human League. Sadly, most of this album descends into sub-Jam & Lewis ’80s R&B slush, recalling last year’s rather dreary solo album by Cassie’s producer Ryan Leslie.
