Tellier’s finely mixed concoction of Parisian film noir and sultry Gallic introversion reached popular heights in the UK with 2005’s brilliant ‘La Ritournelle’. ‘Universe’, created exclusively for the UK market, combines the efforts of recent French release ‘Sessions’ with selections from his soundtrack to the film ‘Narco’. It’s an eclectic collection that suggests a four-way cross between ‘Blow Up’, Serge Gainsbourg, an abstract André Breton composition, and a sedated Frank Zappa.
