One of the most innovative artists of the ’70s folk scene, Jones’s performing career was ended in 1982 by a near-fatal road accident. Only one iconic studio album (‘Penguin Eggs’) is still available – but, in the late ’90s, two albums of live recordings were assembled from bootlegs and released on Nic’s own label. Now more excellent unreleased live archives have been discovered which show exactly why Jones is held in such reverence. His percussive, rhythmic guitar technique underpins a warm, relaxed and fluid singing style that truly brings these traditional tales to life.
