Rare solo outing from this sublime guitarist, best known for his acoustic supergroup Oregon and his collaborations with Jarrett and Garbarek. It finds Towner – on classical and 12-string guitar – playing standards and drawing on contemporary classical, jazz and beyond for his gentle, melodic originals. But, mesmerising as it can be, it’s also rather austere – for other guitarists to gawp at rather than for the rest of us to enjoy.
