You have to admire Robbie for releasing his Bonkers Album, his ‘Hot Space’, his ‘Zooropa’, his ‘Seven And The Ragged Tiger’. Oddly, critics who’d have murdered him for serving up another retread of ‘Escapology’ are attacking ‘Rudebox’ for being, well, bonkers. Anyway, having revived the career of ’80s gadfly Stephen Duffy, Robbie now tries to do the same with north London soul boy Lewis Taylor, with a Mark Ronson-helmed cover that seems destined to flop gloriously. Career suicide never sounded so good.
