With their tight rhythms and ‘social commentary’, it’s hard to ignore BJ’s similarity to the Arctic Monkeys, but on a closer listen they’re a different species. There’s an infectious, out-of-control edge that suggests a London influence (Libertines et al) and Jamie T rings as heavily as Alex Turner. The problem is that confessional tales require insight – not just crap jokes and acerbic (for the sake of it) tales about going to McDonald’s.
