Here’s a fantastic historical document just begging to be ironically appreciated for all the wrong reasons. It’s a lovingly collated library of the sounds popular in the nation’s working men’s clubs in the ’60s and ’70s, before they all became dens of burlesque iniquity. To be fair, most of the tracks here – Bontempified waltz-time reworkings of the funk and jazz sounds infiltrating our society from across the pond – would actually work very well as a sonic backdrop to Immodesty Blaize shaking her thing.
