  • DAT – the Diskaholics Anonymous Trio – are Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore (throwing out squalls of violent feedback) and Jim O’Rourke (wringing warped, throbbing pulses from his laptop), with Swedish free jazz saxophonist Mats Gustafsson (doing his best Albert Ayler impersonation). Sounding like a Dalek riding a motorbike through a nuclear storm, this 40-minute live recording isn’t for the faint-hearted, but there’s a head-clearing visceral beauty to their scorched-earth savagery that makes this powerfully compelling.
