Norwegian keyboardist Morten Qvenild is the ‘orchestra’ of Susanna And The Magical Orchestra, but also leads his own trio. Their second album is a(nother) cool and elegant exercise in ECM-ish jazz, full of understated drama, but takes an intriguing turn on ‘Torch Fishing’ (with Marc Ribot), which suggests Keith Jarrett tackling Elton’s ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’. A fine idea, as it turns out.
