  • Critically acclaimed yet commercially ignored (in this country at least), The Frames craft earnest, indie-tinted folk-rock inspired by (they say) Elton John and Gordon Lightfoot. At its best, though, ‘The Cost’ sounds more like anthemic, violin-flecked Elbow with a touch of Lambchop. At its worst, it descends into something sounding like a gruff version of The Magic Numbers.
