Frank may be familiar to some of the younger, alt-punkier among you as the former lead singer of cheerfully named nearly-rans Million Dead. Following the collapse of his former band, Frank strapped himself with an acoustic guitar and wrote a bunch of maudlin songs about it. As tuneful as they are, Frank’s kitchen-sink quarter-life crisis anthems pitch up halfway between Billy Bragg and Richard Digance. It’s not the most original style, but it certainly went down well on his support slots on The Automatic’s recent UK tour. Mind you, he’ll surely have benefited from comparison with the headliners.
