Despite dropping Trio from their name (too jazzy, too many members?) the artists now known as Tin Hat still dole out the same wistful, warped jazz-Americana. Built around clarinet, trumpet, accordion and guitar, their gently dancing music has an artful filmic quality. But while it’s all rather lovely to the ears, it ends up as the aural equivalent of the infamous Il Bulli restaurant in Spain: lots of delicate little flavours to refresh the jaded palate but just not meaty enough to really satisfy.
