Left label-less after their last album, Pete Astor and David Sheppard decamped to Suffolk where, in splendid rural isolation, they knocked out the 20 songs contained on this album in just seven days. Using electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele, violin, melodica, washboard, toy accordian, charango, Malden salt shaker and more, they’ve modelled a delicate, warmly intimate, lo-fi folk/electronica hybrid which should appeal equally to fans of Alexander Tucker, Boards Of Canada and Harry Smith’s folk anthology alike.
