  • It’s generally bad news when rock stars – urgh! – procreate and make indulgent albums for their offspring. Usually they’d be better off buying their children’s affection like normal parents. But not this time! This album, curated by Tindersticks Stuart Staples and Dave Boulter, is great. Mostly for one reason – to whit, the sonorous sound of Jarvis Cocker gleefully recounting ‘The Lion And Albert’, the greatest children’s poem of all time, which was doing twisted dark kids stuff while the creators of ‘Grizzly Tales For Gruesome Kids’ were still having their milk money stolen. Better still, the CD is packaged within a chunky wipe-clean cardboard book, with illustrations by second-most-famous Stuckist Sexton Ming, so you and your mucus-spewing progeny can readalonga Cocker. We’ll tell you now that the album gets an extra star just for that.
