Difficult as it is to distinguish between all the acoustic-guitar-wielding types currently being sensitive in a record store near you, there’s simply something, something that makes Willy Mason much more likeable than the rest of ’em. Save for a few notable guests (Roseanne Cash, KT Tunstall, his mum, his little brother) this is by no means a vast departure from his 2004 debut, but when he’s singing songs as effortlessly touching as ‘The World That I Wanted’, you start to wonder whether that matters. And if maybe you are going soft after all.
