The title of this album translates as ‘my dream’ and this, the final album recorded by Cuban legend Ferrer before his death in 2005, was indeed the fulfilment of a lifetime wish. He had always longed to record an album of boleros, but had been repeatedly told that his voice was insufficiently manly. Featuring contributions from Ry Cooder, Omara Portuondo and Rubén Gonzales, this fine, heartfelt collection of familiar but beautifully recorded songs certainly proves any doubters wrong.
