    • Leon Jean-Marie - Scratch

  • Debut single from one of the capital's most promising talents for this year. Coming over like an analogue Prince in a barn full of rusted farm equipment, it’s a genuinely funky slab of lo-fi with a sweet hook and a refreshing lack of respect for convention. ‘Scratch’ has got that laidback-yet-uptight quality which made Cameo so thrilling, although it’s too fuzzy and grungy and bass-dependent to make it on the radio. He’s playing Notting Hill Arts Club on Thursday – check him out if you can.
