Zanes is probably best known here as former lead singer of the Del Fuegos but Stateside he has reinvented himself as purveyor of top-notch Americana for kiddies, even winning a Grammy. And why not when Zanes can call on the likes of Nick Cave and Natalie Merchant for his chirpy, fun but never patronising collection of steel guitar-driven old labour tunes, farm songs, Zulu folk and – of course – lots of songs about trains. Sure beats The Wiggles any day!
