The Norwegian singer-songwriter’s 2005 debut LP was a whimsical, sweetly frosty series of tinkerings, creaks and musings that suggested Stina Nordenstam trapped in an Edwardian toy cupboard, but her follow-up is less tentative and a little moodier. She’s still recording the sounds of bicycle wheels, bottles and typewriters, but these songs are more fulsome and focused, many of them worthy of soundtracking a movie like ‘Belleville Rendezvous’.
