Danish quartet The Blue Van (it’s the equivalent of the black maria in their homeland, apparently) have somehow developed a sound that’s closer to the garage blues of The Alan Price Set/The Animals and the bands of our own Medway Delta (from The Prisoners to The Len Price 3) than anything of Scandi-pop origin. Rough guitar, hammered organ and a bluesy yowl are key on the terrific ‘Goldmind’ and ‘Elephant Man’, which both suggest The Blue Van as a Nordic Little Barrie.
