‘Born from a blizzard of horned cats’, this sextet features Joe Volk, of west-country stoner rockers Gonga, and Mogwai’s Dominic Aitchison, which should give you some idea of their stylistic ballpark. Volk’s fondness for wyrd folk (which has surfaced on a solo LP) and Aitchison’s neo-classical piano talents broaden the palette well beyond dark and spooked atmospherics, although ‘The Whistler’ should make fans of Espers and Sunn O))) very ‘happy’ indeed.
