  • An unholy and yet wholly satisfying alliance of Norwegian garage rockers Cato Salsa Experience, super-skronky free jazz trio The Thing and avant-garde saxophonist Joe McPhee, TBAAL sound something like a frat house Vile Imbeciles with Evan Parker guesting. Elsewhere, the spirit of ’60s free jazz looms large, but their version of ‘Louie, Louie’ – free honking gives way to garage thrash before collapsing into free jazz – is about the best we’ve ever heard, and guaranteed to put a big and very stupid grin on your face.
