‘Play and record! Held down together!’ sings Eddie Argos in that John Otway-esque style of his on ‘Sound Of Summer’, before continuing, ‘Tabs pushed off! So you can’t tape over it ever!’ Much like the first, then, the second Art Brut album harks back to an age of ramshackle, proper indie for ‘C86’-loving outsiders – every other couplet concerned with awkwardly approaching girls. Music for the Topshop-attired iPod generation it certainly ain’t, but that only adds to its bashful, stumbling charm.
