After debuting with ‘Psyence Fiction’ in 1998, James Lavelle swore his collaborative UNKLE project would never again see the light of day, but manfully pushed himself to release another LP six years later – to almost universal indifference. A sucker for punishment, he’s now about to unleash a third, from which this is lifted and, maybe to keep costs low, has hired Ian Astbury (!) to drawl over a rhythmic pattern nicked from ‘Kid A’. Not so much dire, as just bewilderingly dated and dull.
