  • Californian alt.hip hopper Madlib has worked with Talib Kweli, the late J Dilla (as Jaylib) and MF Doom (as Madvillain), and produced many of the artists on Peanut Butter Wolf’s fêted Stones Throw label. For YNQ, Madlib has assumed a whole range of different aliases and his dazzlingly interpretive ‘compilation’ is a trip through ’70s funk, hip hop fusion and classic, Blue Note-style jazz, with nods to artists from Miles to Jackie Mittoo and Quincy Jones. In terms of sheer, killer cool, this is The Shit.
