There’s a yuppie sheen on this Swedish duo’s debut that suggests it should be played in an entirely mirrored club in which people, in shoulder pads, are drinking cheap champers. Underneath the surface, though, it’s satisfyingly odd. Kraut dub (reggae licks and steel pans included) and Afrobeat rhythms propel the dark side of bass-heavy, ’80s electro-pop (New Order, Durutti Column, Soft Cell and The Cure) into a kind of smooth, delicious prog-disco.
